About Us
The Center on Health Disparities at Virginia Commonwealth University is committed to the elimination of disparities in health outcomes and the improvement of health care. Although the Center primarily focuses on underrepresented populations in the greater Richmond area, its work impacts health policy and public policy throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The overall goal of the Center is to develop the capacity of faculty, staff, students and community partners to identify the causes of and develop interventions to eliminate health disparities. The Center is managed by a medical director, administrative director and program administrator.
The creation of the Center demonstrates VCU and VCU Medical Center commitment to safeguarding the health of “all” citizens living in Central Virginia.
