Mission and Goals

Mission

To develop and facilitate research, education, access to health care services and workforce diversity initiatives that will eliminate health disparities for populations in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Goals

Priority one: Conduct and support research focused on the identification and elimination of health disparities.

Priority two: Promote and measure education, attitudes, skills and knowledge of health care professionals, staff and students regarding health disparities among patients and the communities served.

Priority three: Develop programs and enhance community partnerships to improve access to health care services that are culturally sensitive for underserved populations in Virginia.

Priority four: Enhance workforce diversity by increasing the number of underrepresented minority health professions students, faculty and health care staff at the VCU Medical Center.
