On the Road to NIH Funding

Time: 8:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: School of Nursing, Room 1-015

This 1-day workshop will feature speakers from six NIH Institutes, an opportunity for faculty to spend one-on-one time with NIH staff, and a discussion regarding the research resources available to VCU faculty. It will also provide an overview of the grants process, including researching your idea, finding mentor(s), and working with the Office of Sponsored Programs. The workshop is targeted towards VCU faculty investigators. Space is limited and registration is required along with a registration fee of $20. Outcomes and Evidence: Making Tomorrow's Vision Today's Reality Through Patient-Centered Care

Time: 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Location: Medical Sciences Building Auditorium

Dr. Carolyn M. Clancy, M.D., Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will serve as the speaker. Her major research interests include various dimensions of health care quality and patient, including women's health, primary care, access to care services, and the impact of financial incentives on physicians' decisions. This talk, which is part of the Department of Internal Medicine Grand Rounds, will be telecast live to the VA McGuire Hospital, Room 2L-153.
